We are excited to open our doors on Tuesday, September 8th to welcome approximately 1100 Grade 7–9 students for a year filled with rapid growth, discovery, and new friendships! 

First Day of School (Tuesday, Sept. 8th) 

  • Hours: Half-day for all grades from 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  
  • School buses pick up at 11:45 am:  Please review with your child the SD23’s School Bus Rider Rules if your student is taking the school bus 
  • Arrival: Staff will be outside starting at 8:15 a.m. to greet students and guide them to their first class. 
  • There will be alphabetical student lists posted in the school’s main hallways/MPR area organized by grade.  The lists will indicate the student’s Homeroom Teacher and Room Number. 
  • Students will receive a paper copy of their confirmed schedules, locks, lockers, and get settled into the school routines and expectations smoothly. 
  • Students are asked to go to their Homeroom at the 8:40 welcome bell.  There will be adults to assist student. 
  • NEW to Kelowna? Or, perhaps, a NEW students who registered later (as you were not in our catchment), or require more assistance on the first day, please come directly to our Library Commons and we will have staff to assist in getting you settled for your first day. 
  • If students want to change their class schedules, they can pick up an exploratory course change request form from the counselling office on Friday, September 11th.  Please note that course changes are a complex process and are not always possible.  Requests will be reviewed during the third and fourth week of September. 
  • Our office is very busy during the opening week. We ask families to minimize their office visits and to email all queries to DRK@sd23.bc.ca
