Hello École Dr Knox Middle School Community,
I wanted to message families to let everyone know that there will be changes in administration at Dr Knox. First, we would like to congratulate Mr. Thachyk on his retirement. Mr. Thachyk has worked at Rutland Middle, Rutland Senior, George Elliot, Mt Boucherie and Dr Knox. We thank him for his support for staff and students, and wish him well in his retirement. Replacing Mr. Thachyk will be Mr. Kevin Auclair. Some of you might remember Mr. Auclair as he taught math and science here last year. In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. Auclair has administrative experience at KLO, KSS, George Elliot, MBSS, Peachland Elementary, Chief Tomat Elementary and Dorothea Walker Elementary. We are very excited to have Mr. Auclair join Ms. Goreas as Vice-Principals on our team!
Second, at the Board meeting on Wednesday night, it was announced that I will be the new Principal at Kelowna Secondary next school year. While it is late in the year for admin transfers, extenuating circumstances and positions at the Board Office to fill required some movement across SD23. It is hard for me to leave such an amazing school community, however, knowing that I will see your students for the last steps of their school careers makes it a bit easier. I am very proud of École Dr Knox Middle School, and I'll miss our school very much. The last two years have been challenging for all of us, and I am grateful for your support, your input and your kindness over that time.
The incoming principal will be Mr. Luke Campbell. Mr. Campbell has administrative experience at OKM, MBSS, Oyama Traditional School and at the School Board Office. He will take over July 1 st , but there will be time for us to transition roles over the summer. You will find Mr. Campbell to be positive, kind and patient and a huge advocate for youth. Mr. Campbell is very excited to come to Dr Knox and looking forward to meeting students, staff and families. There is no question that École Dr Knox Middle is in very good hands.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with your children and be a part of your community.
Have a safe and relaxing summer.
Sincerely,
Scott Parker
